Welcome to the perfumed path of the aromatic alchemist where you’ll delve into the ancient art of blending oils—a sacred tradition that’s over 7,000 years old.
This is an advanced technology and one that was deeply important to Egyptian civilization, even in predynastic times (Paleolithic-Neolithic, beginning at 6000 B.C.).
There are remains of 7,000 year old exquisitely carved crystalline stone jars in different shapes which held seven sacred oils; some of these anointing jars were so holy, they were reused in temples for at least 1,500 years–into the “New Kingdom” era (beginning 1500 B.C.).
Sacred anointing oils were prepared in temple laboratories by Scent Priest/esses who partnered with plant spirits to raise the collective consciousness and perform rites of passage, including funerary rites and embalming. In later times, the spells/blessings of Thoth consecrated the oils.
Evidence of seven sacred oils abounds on ancient Egyptian temple inscriptions, tomb paintings, and papyri; you can still witness these precious treasures today—leaving you with a remembrance that you’re a co-creator with the Divine.
Under the reign of Hatshepsut, additional oils were used either alone or in combination with the original, prehistoric seven. Some of the additional oils were used in dedication to Hathor and in the temples of Edfu, Denderah, Esna, Kom Ombo, Isis temple in Philae, and the temple of Athribis.
